דִּיסְתָּנָא, דִּסְ׳I c. (dial, for דשתנא, reduplic. of דָּשְׁנָא) gift, portion. Sabb.156b אנא שקלת די׳ דיהבו ליוכ׳ Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note, ed. שקלתי ריסתנאי דיהבת) I took the portion which was given to me (the bride) and gave it Ber.42a שדא … ד׳ Ms. M. (read שדר; ed. שדרו להור׳ מביוכ׳) the Resh Galutha sent them an honorary portion. Gitt.67b ד׳ דחנקא חמותא Ar. (ed. ר׳ … המתא) a gift which chokes a mother-in-law (a colloquial expression for a treacherous gift, as from a diseased animal ; differ. in Rashi). Ber.50b שקל … פתק … ד׳ Mar Z. took (some of the fruits) and threw them to R. … as his portion of honor (Ms. M. זרק … רומנא).
